Internet WiFi distribution?

Such a question, there is a cellular operator. He had unlimited internet, I used it in a router and distributed it to a laptop. everything was ok until the operator began to cut the speed to 64kbps. How do they understand that I distribute the Internet? is it possible to cheat this possibility somehow? They indicate it will work only on your phone, but if I turn on the distribution from the phone, the situation does not change, the speed is low. who can tell me what the magic is.

Deep Packet Inspection (and not only it) is relatively easy for an operator to determine by

  1. TTL (time to live) - value minus 1 (usually) if a device is connected in the distribution
  2. MAC address inspection - of course, if possible
  3. TCP/IP Stack Fingerprinting - Different devices have different "settings" for the protocol. The presence of different versions of prints for data transmission indicates distribution (the most popular)
  4. The User-Agent of your browser is the most commonplace - different browsers access the network from different devices (different data in the User-Agent)

Well, and a lot of heuristic algorithms.
Well, or the operator set two APNs on your phone (unlikely, but it is included in the standard and is supported by devices) - when distributing, the phone reads the second APN and starts using it (and the operator has its own speeds and policies for this APN).
How to cheat? I will not rewrite articles here - they are easy to google.
