If you insert a RAM into the laptop with a higher frequency, will it work on it?

There is an old laptop: ASUS X42F ( Pentium P6100 2GHz) with RAM: You

need to add 2 GB of RAM, there is a free slot : 8500, PC3 - 10600, PC3-12800, etc. If I install them, will they work? It is clear that not faster than 533MHz - but will they work?

Will work.
Maybe even slower. Seriously.
But you won't notice it.

Should work at 533 MHz.
Isn't it easier to buy a 4GB bar right away and remove the low-speed one altogether?

Yes, it will work. In general, Intels with frame support are very cool, they have a 7-year-old processor, 1066Mhz RAM frequency, right now one DDR3 1333Mhz bar and one DDR3L1600Mhz.

I inserted 4 GB with a frequency higher - the flight is normal! Thanks to all!
