How to work with COM port on a modern server?
Hello.
I own an Intel R2308WTTYS server, I needed to receive data from one old piece of hardware, which can only send them through the COM port. The server has 2 COM ports, 1 in the form of RJ-45, the second in the form of a connector on the motherboard. I connected a cable to the connector on the motherboard, turn on the piece of iron in it, open putty and it's empty. No data is coming. Checked:
1. A loop on a regular PC, everything works.
2. BIOS settings, Serial enabled.
I tried to connect Cisco ASA for verification, there is still no data.
What could be the reason?

Are the settings for connecting to the COM port in putty correct?
If the port is dead, there are tons of USB-to-serial adapters on the market these days. Were you able to connect to a piece of hardware from another computer via putty to make sure that it is working, and can you check the connection parameters on a known working computer?
