How to use multiple HDDs?
In general, there are several HDDs, of different sizes. You need to use them (at home). How do I think? Not in the sense of what to spend their volume on, but in the sense of how to connect them. I looked at US, and something does not pull me to spend from 30 pieces for a "smart" box for 8 seats. For this money you can take a PC, and (for a home file washer) it is not very weak. But I don’t want to spend so much money alone, especially since such a PC already has 4 disks.
The essence of the question - are there any inexpensive small blunt external baskets with their own power supply for disks of 8 pieces? Let it be without LAN, on usb, if only there are no docking stations for 1 disk (you won’t get enough sockets, and it will look disgusting).

Sell all the disks and use the proceeds to buy one normal volume.
First you need to get some adapters for SATA or IDE to USB, there are inexpensive solutions on the Internet. In addition to them, you need a hub for the amount that you include. Preferably all this with USB 3.0. Take any box, install disks in it, leaving spaces for ventilation, you can put a cooler if the disks are actively used. You can saw down a wooden box ala "in retro style" yourself. It is better to buy a power supply unit with the appropriate power and make several molex taps from it, the whole thing is plugged into a USB port, and the power supply unit is plugged into a power outlet. As for the speed of writing / reading - it will be relatively low, but still stable. If you want a full-fledged but budget NAS, you can use Raspberry.
