How to update 3ds max version 16000 to 17000?

They sent me a file where I have to make a few changes to the models. So, my 3ds max 2014 refuses to open it. It says that the file was saved with a newer version of 3ds max, i.e. version number 17000. And my program is version 16000. How can I update the program version?
