How to understand that the camera is not a fake?

Example: www.avito.ru/moskva/fototehnika/canon_eos_5d_mark_...

Canon EOS 5D Mark II Body for 38 tr. With an average for used - 45-50 tr.

What's the catch? Kidalovo? :)

"Broken" or "hot" pixel. Mileage - about 10000+, unscrewed "mileage", restored firmware (after unsuccessful firmware and / or operation of Magic Lantern), illumination of the matrix with laser beams - "drawdown" of color, contrast by one pixel or across all fields, non-working functions - cleaning the matrix , shooting modes, non-working quick access buttons, non-working quick button combinations) and / or refurbished box (damage to the curtain, mirror), “broken” electronics, operation outside the permissible temperatures (humidity, pressure), extreme shooting (shocks, overloads over 10g ). All this is something that you will never be able to determine when buying without disassembling the device, or without checking it with Canon's proprietary service software or using proprietary software or utilities on a portable laptop (Adobe CS, Adobe Bridge, DeadPixelTest). Here is just a very general list. Full testing may take more than one hour, inspection of the camera, special. tools (dentist's mirror, magnifying glass, macro ring, white LED backlight, etc.)
I can say for sure - there is a jamb, otherwise it cannot be. I took "new" in a well-known brand. They slipped me a Mark II with a dead pixel and a mileage of 10,000.
Advice - take a new one in a sealed factory box and don't let anyone open it if you don't know how to look for jambs like a back-focus lens or an illuminated box.

Moral: if you need to sell broken shit - put the price above the market and bargain sluggishly.

IMHO 1200 - 1300ue is quite an adequate price for a used carcass,
and 1600ue is normal only for a new condition, which they just took out of the store and took a couple of shots.
Take a laptop, take a couple of shots, check for dead pixels and real mileage (in linux, this can be done using gphoto2), cosmetic inspection - and you can take it.

There are no fake mirrors. For it is easy to detect, but expensive to do. So if it's cheap, then it's either gray, or you need to sell it quickly.
Most likely grey. In any case, when I bought a 50D for myself 2 years ago using the same ads, I found a large number of sellers selling Canon DSLRs in the same way. The scheme is as follows:
- a whale DSLR is being sold 20% below the average price, a little used, white with all the documents (I played around, it didn’t fit; I realized that I needed a class higher; it turned out to be too complicated)
- when we met, it turned out that there was lies IS 18-55 (a kit from 450D, the cheapest Canon glass)
- the meaning of the whole fraud that white cheap glass was bought for a gray SLR and a 50D kit fit into its warranty
In the case of 5D, according to the same scheme, it would be possible to throw out the glass completely (or sell it as used without a warranty), but put the warranty card from the glass in a box with gray 5D.

Only today a man from Kaliningrad was selling 5DmkII for 30 thousand. Naturally, he laughs off the questions “what's the matter”.
In any case, I don’t want to receive a “gift” from the post office (if the device is really in good condition) for 30 thousand. :)
