How to track changes to files on a network drive?

File storage is shared on Samba. The user sees it (in his Windows) as a network drive.
The problem is that several people work with the network drive. And the user needs to see what files\folders have been changed by other users since his last access to the network drive (it doesn't matter what was changed in the file).
Standard solutions - version storage systems (git, svn) are not suitable. Marivanna will not delve into how it works and learn the new interface.
Question:
What can be the solution to such a problem?

through inotify on the file storage, collect information about the changed files and add them to a text file.
but how to track the access to the user's network drive - no ideas.

1. If Marivanna remembers when she watched the file, she will immediately see by the date whether the file was saved after that or not. Sorting by date will help. But I doubt that Marivanna remembers what and when she looked ...
2. In the properties of Office documents there is a "Saved by". Again, a dark moment - Marivanna looked, rules and saved, looked and stupidly re-saved without changing, or opened and closed without saving?
3. Perhaps some kind of Electronic Document Management will help you, but again, this strained for Marivanna, and it costs money.
So specify the technology for working with documents, the number of documents and the number of employees in order to understand which way to move.
PS At the conductor, you can make a SEA of columns, but I did not find the column "Stored By Whom". Look - maybe you will find an interesting option and tell us?
