How to tell a new iPhone 5 from a refurbished one?

I wanted to buy an iphone 5, but I found out that new ones are not always packed. There is a link to the Apple website, but they say whether the warranty from Apple has expired or not. Maybe there are some external differences or there are some other options?
In advance, thank you all so much for your help.

Check the model/serial number on the box and on the device (Settings - General - About this device).
Well, ask for a guarantee from the seller - the guarantee for a new phone flows from the date of purchase.
If you take it from your hands, ask for the original purchase documents (then they will repair the device in a company service with them).

No way. You need to understand what "restored" means. This means that the phone was bought, then returned back to the store. For whatever reason, it doesn’t matter - I just didn’t like it, there was a breakdown or something. In any case, it is sent back to production and it goes through the standard "recovery" procedure - it is fully tested (as well as all assembled products), if there are broken parts - they are changed, stuffed into a new case, repackaged. In general, such a phone is no different from a new one, but Apple sells them a little cheaper, which is why they are bought up quite actively.
