How to synchronize two computers via a USB flash drive?
There are two computers remote from each other. Synchronization is needed, once a week or month. Usually a 2GB flash drive is used (it is enough to throw off all the information). The problem is that new files are copied either through the search, or manually checked by folders. Both computers have Windows 7. I am looking
for a program that can create an image of the folder files on my computer, and then check for new files on the other. Synchronization is needed in one direction. You can write a couple of batch files or a small program, but maybe there is a ready-made solution? I use the Allway Sync 'n' Go program, you can configure it if you carry the archive with you or change the date in the settings.
In theory, you can set it up through an online service (Yandex.disk, Dropbox or another), but the files are sorted in a different way on the destination computer (in the end, you need to store an archive for synchronization).
To make it clearer, let me explain with an example:
I have an archive of all photos sorted in a certain way (by days), my relatives have an archive (s), but they sort photos by holidays. I need to copy all the photos to myself, sort them, and then just connect the photos and copy only the new and changed ones.

Maybe then abandon the FS-based file organization? Well, use a cataloger. Or does the example not reflect the actual network problem? )
To copy, you can use xcopy /D without specifying a date - update files with an older creation date.
Win7 seems to have a robocopy utility. Look at its help - perhaps it will solve all problems without additional software.
Also look at nnbackup - a free console utility, I just synchronize the directory system at work, at home and in backups with it. There you can set up exactly what to synchronize, what to exclude, you can set up an additive backup and a whole bunch of other possibilities.
It's 2012, and files are still synchronized via flash drives ... is there really no Internet? 2gb is not big...
The most sophisticated and coolest program (not only for synchronization via a flash drive, but also via ftp, LAN, etc., as well as just for backup) is definitely - vuBrief
site suddenly died, look here:
http://web.archive.org/ web/20100119041854/http://vu-software.spb.ru/startpage/index.htm
before using, read the instructions (and it is - wow!):
PS The program, though old (in the sense it was sawed by one Petersburger from the end 90s, but then he abandoned the whole thing even before the release of XP, but this does not mean that it is unfinished, it’s just not sharpened for modern axes)
ZYY I didn’t check the workability in the seven.
I can recommend GoodSync. Tried many alternatives, eventually settled on it. Wide functionality, simplicity in ease of setup. In general, I recommend to put - see.
It seems that rsync has been ported to Windows for a long time, the first result is in the following:
www.rsync.net/resources/howto/windows_rsync.html
if in a simple way, then this utility, I think, will do (it was written by me, if you wish, you can expand the functionality). I recommend formatting the flash drive under NTFS and compressing it, it will fit more).
