How to switch between adapters to access the Internet?

Good day.
Theoretic question:
There are 2 adapters on the device: wi-fi and lan, both are included and each has its own access to the Internet.
Is it possible to configure and where, through which adapter to access the Internet? Interested as for Win, there and for Linux.

It is possible, in the general case, it is necessary to prescribe metrics.
The rest depends on the software on the device (router, regular line, Windows, what packages are on the line). You can configure failover with channel prioritization, you can balance, you can do anything.

You can stupidly switch interfaces manually :)
In Linux, by editing the file /etc/network/interfaces
In win, with the mouse, like
