How to reinstall Ubuntu Server without losing data?
There is a server with Ubuntu Server 16.04 with GitLab, mySQL and other programs.
After the light went out for a long time, the server turned off abnormally (power was lost))) and after that it stopped starting.
Actually the question is how can I pull out the data of GitLab, mySQL and other programs? Most importantly, projects with GitLab ...
I know that they reinstall / home without formatting, but GitLab stores projects in the wrong place?

Variat on the forehead - dump the entire disk as is, if the data is terribly important.
You need a screw with a lot of free space and a boot CD for Ubuntu.
we connect the STE to the server, boot from the CD, mount a new disk and backup all sections of the "old" screw to it as is. those.
and so for each section of the old screw (I assume that it was connected as / dev / sda).
It does not hurt to check the archives for integrity.
so we have a backup of all important data and can fix the disk.
try to check the disk for errors and fix them
for each partition (-p = fix errors) and try to reboot. with 80% probability the disk will come to life. if not, there are full backups of all data on the screw.
If the data is not so important, you can try not to dump everything, but immediately run the section tests.
on a revived disk, set up a backup to the cloud
Gitlab stores projects where you specified in the config.
There are just bare turnips that you can copy-paste.
The question is different - what does it mean "stopped running"? Mistakes?
Killing linux is problematic, and for the future - do not forget to connect the uninterruptible power supply with a USB cable :)
