How to submit your application to Ubuntu Software Center?

Hello!
I decided to upload my application to the Ubuntu application center, one friend already did this and for this he only needed to upload the * .deb package with the binary program inside, but probably now everything has changed and instead of the usual Debian package they need Debian Source, they gave links to example (unfortunately now they are no longer available), in the example everything is more clear and you can figure it out with the exception of one thing - not a Makefile is used, but configure, the creation of which has no idea for me, I found a little information about it, but I still don’t understand how Thus, it records information about the installation directories and the location of the files, and they are taken from there, there is nowhere else, all files are thrown into one folder in preparation for the Debian Source build.
The question is for those who may have already collected packages for submission to the Ubuntu SoftwareCenter or imagine how to do it, I would like an example with a simple program, for example helloword, and at the same time with one file in the subfolder of this program, I just don’t know what to write in this configure and whether I'm doing everything right.
Now, unfortunately, I have lost links to examples, so it’s hard to even say what I used, sort of like deb-helper, I use Qt4.8.6, but this is not important here.
I would be glad to hear the opinions of those who are at least a little familiar with this topic!
Here I found a link to an example: https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/publish/other-form... , as you can see from the example about the location of folders, no one knows anything and does not indicate, so it is stored somewhere in configure file
