How to set up VLC on Raspberry Pi 3?

If you install VLC via apt-get, then when playing the video there is sound, but there is no video itself, only a static picture, and the processor is 100% loaded. They write that the problem is the lack of support for hardware acceleration.
Found a guide on how to install VLC from a repository with AU support. However, when trying to play a video, the following errors are sent to the console:
core decoder error: buffer deadlock prevented
chain filter error: too high level of recursion
core filter error: failed to create video filter(2)
core vout display error: failed to adapt decoder format to display
core video output error: video output creation failed
core decoder error: failed to create video output
Tell me how to solve the problem and is it possible to get VLC to work normally on raspberries at all?

@Eshkigal

There are really problems with VLC, on the network I walked how-to on compiling VLC with support for hardware acceleration, but this action was not crowned with success for me.
The solution is actually much simpler. There is omxplayer
He can do it all.
