How to set up remote control of a home PC from a smartphone?

I downloaded the RD Client for Android, set it up, connected, and everything seems to be fine, BUT the monitor goes into screensaver mode, and ruins my plans to use my smartphone as a TV remote control. It is required to find a simple and high-quality solution. Thanks in advance for your replies.
