Recently (three weeks already) on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active (Android 5.0.1) the brightness adjustment bar disappeared. Now it is configured automatically, which is extremely inconvenient for me. Especially when watching a video - it "eats" colors. It happened before, but after 2-3 days everything was restored.

If you mean the brightness control in the notification panel, then it is enabled / disabled in the settings: My device -> Display -> Notification panel -> Brightness control.
