Choosing a sysadmin smartphone / communicator?

I plan to finally get a smartphone, with the aim of a more online existence.
Main tasks: access to mail / im / twitter / organizer, access to servers via ssh.
Presumably Android.
The main trouble with the possibility of ssh.
It is planned to use at least shell, screen, mc, vim via ssh.
In the console I would like to have:
- the possibility of several sessions
- preferably modes of both vertical and horizontal orientation
- at least the ability to type ctrl-letters
- it would be desirable to have cursor arrows
- it’s very good if you can type esc and meta-letters
In this regard, a number of questions :
- Are there adequate ssh clients, besides ConnectBot?
- are there any models with adequate qwerty keyboards, besides DesireZ?
- Is it possible to work in a shell with on-screen keyboards at all?
Are these on-screen keyboards customizable/programmable?
Are qwerty keyboards customizable/programmable?
(for example, DesireZ has buttons [1] [2] with circles - can they be assigned to ctrl and meta?
many have a “sym” button - what is it and how to use it?)

Look at n900. Colleague happy as an elephant. Causes concerns about the fate of the platform, but nonetheless.

There is a ported version of Putty for Symbian. MS works fine. Ctrl + Keys are in the menu Options - Send ... There are also keys like ESC, etc.
I use E51. Satisfied. The only thing missing is QWERTY keyboard.
But since it works on E51, then, I think that the rest of the Symbians will go ok. The only thing left is to find a phone with a symbian and an adequate qwerty keyboard.

I have a desire and an ipad. Take a tablet, you won't be able to work in SSH on your phone, trust me. To look at something, to dig around to a minimum, but alas, no more. Not necessarily Apple, but there is a gorgeous issh application (appstore) and terminal (cydia) for it. You can already work, if the channel is stable.

I have a simple nokia 5230 smartphone, in the ssh client you can only do something emergency / not significant. For a full-fledged job, it is not at all suitable. And my eee pc 701 with modifications, which I already wrote about on Habré, is suitable for such work.

I would take an iPhone. I myself am an admin and I use SSH and VNC and RDP with iPhone 3GS. I plan to buy iPad2 (I will work remotely from home). Convenient, functional and no troubles (except jail and installing applications).

Nope. Although of course there are people with the fingers of surgeons, but ...

In terms of price / quality ratio Acer S100 is very good. As for the software, I think you can find everything you need, it's Android)
