If its xml file remains in the directory with the virtual machine, then import the virtual machine. If not, then create a new virtual machine and connect a disk from the old virtual machine to it.
Try this:
1. Copy what's on the disk now to somewhere else...
2. Delete the old VM files in the original location.
3. Re-create the same VM with the same name and settings
4. Stop the hypervisor.
5. Delete the files of the newly created VM
6. Fill in instead of them what was backed up from the old VM ...
Xs what will happen ... the first thing that came to mind.
