How to replace Wi-Fi in a laptop?
Laptop: ASUS X552CL
Wi-Fi: Atheros AR9485 (aw-nb097h)
Need to replace the Wi-Fi module. Should I use only the same Wi-Fi model or can I put any one (just to stick in my mother)?
Thank you!

BIOS dependent. In some models, only modules from the "white list" are allowed to be used. Often the problem is solved by the firmware.
Hardware-wise, this is a simple mini pci-e, and any module will do.
In your case, you need to look for information somewhere on www.techinferno.com

Apparently Asus does not suffer from such garbage.
I would still advise friends to take any card and check the performance of a non-native module before buying something.
When buying, pay attention that the new board also has Bluetooth, like the current one. There are a lot of models of wifi adapters for mini pci-e without a bluetooth module.
Otherwise, the bluetooth mouse will then have an unpleasant surprise =)
I don’t rummage in whitelists and my module burned out and I stupidly put some left one from another laptop, I had broadcom and put realteck in general, of course, that the connectors are suitable
