How to properly re-equip the network?

Hello Toaster! I work in one organization as a "tyzhprogrammer", there are big problems with the network and I need professional advice.
4 Mb/s is distributed by Tp-Link TL-WR1043ND for 20~30 people via Wi-Fi and connected 5-port switches from different manufacturers. The network is used for browsing the web, mail, YouTube, VK, Skype - it slows down a lot when even 20 people access it. (Even if everyone just flips through web pages) It's a no brainer that 4 mb / s is negligible even for a modern home network. The network was made by a higher organization (let's call them "bosses"), they will not redo anything for financial reasons. Empirically, it was found out: the router slows down when routing (during rush hour it barely lets into the admin panel, the transfer rate is only 1 mb / s via local FTP from Ethernet to Wi-Fi) and God forbid someone starts a torrent - the network is almost worth it. In the native firmware of the router, there is an inconvenient system for restricting traffic by IP,

VPN channel and 2 Mb/s are not used
In my opinion, there are two solutions:
1) Replacing Tp-Link TL-WR1043ND with a more powerful router (which one?) or flashing (for example, on OpenWRT)
- there are no guarantees that Internet access will become faster -not
the fact that there is a firmware for this router
+ routing will be delegated (when replaced)
e. organize Internet access via 2 channels
-probably high price for a similar router
-assembly of a server for which there are no funds
+ load distribution between channels
Which option is better?
PS I will attach photos and a more detailed diagram if necessary.

Install Mikrotik and resolve it, there is shaping, and limiting the number of connections, and traffic prioritization, and many other goodies that ordinary routers cannot do.
For such a number of clients, 4 megabits is nothing at all.

TL-WR1043ND and 30 people via WiFi is a maximum of 4 megabits per person,
and this is in the office, where most likely there are network printers in addition to the Internet and file storage.
If you don't want to slow down - lay the wires, well, or normally invest in WiFi.
That is, professional access points, correctly placed, taking into account the desired network coverage.
Regarding the resolution of 4mb from the provider for 30 people, Mikrotik with shaping will help. Although of course it is better to increase the tariff on the Internet.

+1 for Mikrotik - there you can do channel aggregation. And almost seamless wi-fi roaming can be done on multiple Mikrotik devices.
In general, you should reconsider the structure of the network - if there is optics at the input, then why not take a larger channel? Well, wi-fi should be redone - not a single "home" router can cope with such a task. At least SOHO solutions are already needed here.
As well as security issues - is the wi-fi network available for guests? Yes, if it is not available, everything breaks down quite simply (maybe for a long time, but simply).
For a company, I would divide the traffic into vlan and organize the network so that it does not interfere, but helps to work.

4 мб/с - это очень мало для серфинга даже 5 человек.
Если канал не возможно расширить, то ставьте сервер, например на основе FreeBSD.
Свой прокси, свой ДНС, свои шейпера обязательно.
Если в сети wi-fi если медленные устройства - b/g, то обязательно сегментируйте точки по SSID.
Например, для устройств с n - свой SSID, для g - свой, и для b - свой.
Не забудьте разнесьте их по разным каналам.
P.S. C Микротиком хлебнете много секса и результата не достигнете.

Я бы, конечно предложил микротик, но судя по постановке вопроса вам помиом железа потребуется куча навыков, а микротик это не уже не совсем домашний роутер.
1) 4 мегабита конечно маловато, но вполне достаточно для большинства офисных задач на такое количество человек.
Торенты и ютубы можно пытаться резать, но гораздо легче такую проблему решать административными мерами. Если начальство жалуется на медленный интернет то пусть либо канал расширяют, либо бьют по голове тех, кто качает всякую фигню на рабочем месте.
Решить это можно составлением статистики по использованию.
Наименее болезненный способ с точки зрения админа - локальный прокси на котором резать все неугодное + компьютеры с ограниченными учетками без админских прав.
2) 10-20 человек на одной точке - это многовато. Тут нужно проблему решать установкой еще 1-2 точек. Если будете менять роутер, то как раз можно будет использовать старый как точку доступа.
3) отключить режим 802.11b или даже вместе с g, если все устройства умеют n.
Итого:
Для начала я бы предложил прошиться на openwrt, если ваша ревизия поддерживается (https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr1043nd) и там поиграться с шейпером и посмотреть вообще в чем затыки. Опять таки, с него можно будет тянуть netflow и понять кто у вас самый злобный потребитель интернетов.
Осилите openwrt, тогда и mirkotik будет по зубам. Уверены что справитесь и с тем и с другим - берите mikrotik + старый роутер ставьте второй точкой доступа.

TP-Link никогда не был соховским роутером, это домашняя железка, а применение домашнего железа в офисе обычно чревато (есть у нас одна точка TP-Link - виснет постоянно, дома еще более дишманская точка - за три года перегружал три раза). Ну и 4 МБит - я уже и не помню, когда такие скорости-то были... Да еще PPTP
микротик, только микротик. Либо старая тачка с линухом, но там админить нужно через консоль, а у микротика все же какая-никакая, но морда.
Ну и по возможности wifi заменить на провод

4 мбит - действительно ни о чем.
Мы примерно таким же числом сотрудников пару лет назад сидели на 6 Мбитах (WiMax), внутренняя сетка исключительно проводами, гейтом работал полноценный Линукс-сервер.
И все равно приходилось отлавливать любителей включить интернет-радио или посмотреть ролик ровно в то время, когда мне срочно требовалось удаленно поработать с нашим сайтом. А жалоба "компьютер медленный", как правило, относилась к его "работе" во Вконтакте.
