How to properly connect a synthesizer to a laptop to work in fl studio using usb midi?

I decided to try connecting an old yamaha psr-280 to a laptop using a usb midi cable
In fl studio in the midi settings section, everything was connected, but when playing the synthesizer in the piano roll, only the first note is displayed and plays, after a while it turns out to play another note, but the rest do not appear in the program
I can not understand what's wrong. Either I somehow misconfigured the program, or it's a cable issue (not yamaha, I ordered from some site, but it seems to work fine), or it's an old synth, connecting which was not the best idea :(

See if you can set the software mode on the synthesizer.
Here I can, there is FL and Logic Pro. After that, everything is tightened quickly and effortlessly.
