How to organize collective work on translating a book into Russian?

Given: a book on IT topics in English.
Let's assume that the licensing issues are settled, the Russian-speaking IT community is interested in translating the book into Russian and is ready to participate in its creation.
How is it technically best to organize collective work on translation?
Ideas "for starters": we take a wiki engine (what? mediawiki?), we work in it.
Or: we create a repository on github (or where?), we encourage uploading translation sources there (in what format: LaTeX, markdown, etc? pictures and formulas are also likely).
How would you personally feel comfortable if you undertook to participate?
Brainstorming (in the form of expressing options for any absurdity) is welcome.
