How to move Ubuntu server from one drive to another?
Hello.
I will try not to go into details, I will describe everything briefly.
We have: HDD (465GB, occupied: 180GB), it has an ubuntu server with all the data. (2 partitions sda1 sda2)
SSD (250GB, busy: 0), you need to transfer all data from hdd to it, so that everything works after this disk is plugged in as the main one.
right now I’m doing everything through dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb (because there is less space occupied by the hdd than the total space for the ssd, I suspect that dd will complete successfully), but the question is - is it right am I doing? can i boot the car even if i grub-install /dev/sdb?
The question, in fact, is the following: is it possible to transfer the system with all the files / database, etc. using dd? etc. in my case? and, if not, how to make it so that you can transfer everything to a new disk?
I really do not want to resort to livecd and similar systems. Thank you.
