How to make money on programming for a poor student: where would it be better to start?

Student. I am studying to be a programmer-linguist. I want to start making money from programming: get a job (I think freelancing is a bad choice).
The question is this: I don't know what to study, algorithms, JAVA or C#, etc. I have a desire to learn new things, but I can't choose what will bring me money in the future.
As a priority, I would like to study JAVA Algorithms. Please tell me where to start and how not to waste time in vain.

Start by exploring search. Firstly, without the ability to search and analyze information, you still cannot become a programmer. Secondly, this question has been asked hundreds of times on the Toaster. Open hh.ru, look at the requirements for juniors in your region, learn what you need to meet these requirements.

Everything always starts with the same thing: from getting a job

I have a desire to learn new things

Everything is new to you now. You don't know anything yet.
Nothing will bring, programming does not bring money, you can only earn money by programming.
A created product can bring money, and you can write the desired one in any language.
If you want, then do it.
What time? And what does "in vain" mean?
