How to make a backup?

Hello everyone
Please tell me how to properly organize backups in the office?
Those. Look, we now have a 2-3 terabyte server file.
For the time being, we simply make a backup of the disk once a week - for several days.
But you need to have a backup for at least a month for every day.
It's just that there are situations when someone worked and accidentally deleted some file or folder and I want to be able to do a retroactive recovery.
Recommend some programs or algorithms on how to properly make such daily backups with limited disk space to save information (for backups we have 6 terabytes) the file server itself is 2 terabytes.
Thank you very much in advance.

Specify the query - what OS is used on the file server?
If Windows, then "shadow copies" may well be enough, and a bunch of all sorts of utilities, under Linux, the same story.
In general, the phrase "incremental backup" driven into Google will save you :)

do not make a garden out of software (which you have to buy or "quack"), windows can do everything by itself, install the Windows Backup component, if you have 2k8 or younger, if you have something older than 2k8, then ntbackup will help you ...
Instructions for setting up Windows Backup are googled at a time.
for example:
hd.oblakoteka.ru/kb/a17/windows-backup-2012-r2.aspx
everything is set to "one or two and it's done", and it works an order of magnitude faster than any acronyms there.

There are backup programs that only accumulate information, but do not delete it - similar to version control systems for code.
It is also useful to have a data deduplication function , due to the use of which storage space will be saved.

many settings and easy to use. you can customize a lot. including shadow copying.
there is a setting in Cobian Backup how many copies to keep. for example, you make a backup of a frequently used folder every day and you specify to store 3 copies. profit.

Many operating systems (and their file systems) have built-in point-in-time recovery of accidentally deleted files.
On Windows, it definitely is.

How I backup-reserve:
This scheme can be improved by replacing rsync with the standard zfs function - snapshot stream

We implement backup using Symantec BackUp Exec. Copies are stored on special magnetic tapes. But this requires special equipment and tapes.
Periods: 2 times a day, the last working day of the week, month and year.

Thanks to all!
Initially, let's try to implement shadow copying.
