How to interview Enikey for a job?

The company needs a couple more employees in technical support. Now there are ten people in the department. From work, nothing complicated. Connect computer, printer. Register IP and gateway. Connect a network printer. Throw a patch somewhere. Problems in geographically distributed branches.

We need someone who knows how to solve user problems that have arisen. And preferably remotely by phone and keep trips to a minimum. Somewhere in the socket, re-compress the contacts or replace the patch. And somewhere just a random, temporary glitch and it's enough to reboot. It happens that the user’s computer does not work, but in fact he cannot find the right button in 1C. If the Internet does not work, determine exactly where the problem is - a computer, switch, router, provider. And preferably by phone with the user.

You also need to be able to use your hands. At a minimum, connect the equipment and set it up to a level where a more experienced colleague can connect and set everything up.

The question is, everyone is afraid and preparing for the first interview from the point of view of the employee. I'm interested in interviewing from the employer's point of view. How to conduct, what to talk about. I do not consider myself one of the people who easily find a common language and can keep up the conversation. And according to the requirements - anyone who is more or less interested in computers and networks can handle it. There's not even much to ask.

If you don't know who you are looking for, any candidate is perfect for you. He also does not know what you need
And so look at the requirement and dance in questions from them. Need to crimp patches - ask about crimping standards. Connect a printer - ask what the applicant knows about the types of printers.
There is a desire to dig deeper - HR games to help. From the category “let’s imagine that I can’t log into the system, describe your actions in solving the problem”
But in fact, if you don’t know how to interview, it’s better to delegate / give vacancies to a recruiting agency

What question would you ask an assistant system administrator in an interview?

And everyone in this top ten is partisans!))))
Ask them.
In general, basic knowledge of the network device and OS administration, basic knowledge of network configuration, knowledge of the types of patch cord crimps, the ability to draw logical conclusions for fault localization.

@N1ghtWolf

The basic minimum for networks, the OSI model using the example of an operating network, superficially about hardware and operating systems, the ability to convey information in an accessible and understandable way, the ability to think logically and, most importantly, google quickly.
It is better to ask questions on general adequacy from the category "why are well hatches round" with a bias in the subject area. Teaching someone theory and practice is easier than teaching someone how to think.

yes
, you have voiced all the questions and tasks, and you will be interviewed about this
in general, enikei doesn’t know shit, so in the 90s he studies on the spot. it is naive to expect that a devpos will come to you who knows how to compress the wire.

Didn't find what you were looking for?
