How to increase the data transfer speed on an external hard drive?

There is an external hard drive. About six months ago, files were transferred to it at a speed of about 300 Mb / s. Approximately 30 gigabytes will be transferred - the speed drops to 30 Mb / s approximately. But now the situation is stable - the transfer rate is generally about 25 Mb / s. Formatted, changed connectors - does not help. Disk ssd, modern pc. Maybe there are some ways to somehow raise the speed to the previous level?

The answer is elementary simple: if you really
Disk ssd, modern pc
then you need to remove the SSD you have from the box with a USB-2.0 tail and rearrange it into a box with a USB-3.0 connection. The speed will immediately increase tenfold .
But to enjoy this speed, do not confuse, and always connect this new box only to the blue USB-3.0 port.
By the way, it's amazing how it managed to contact you with a USB-2.0 box - they are almost impossible to find on sale (well, except on Ali).

25mb/s is similar to the usb2 transfer rate limit (actually it should give 30)
I can assume that earlier this disk was connected to the usb3 port, and now it was inserted into usb2 or into the adjacent connector (or a usb hub is used) inserted usb2 device and according to the specification, all neighboring devices switched to this mode in unison.
those. insert a disk into the usb3 port 'next to which' nothing is connected
ps what does it mean nearby - ports on the motherboard may not be independent, but in pairs or even four, work as connected through an internal hub (I met this), you can only understand this experimentally (it’s especially sad to connect an old usb1 version mouse next to the flash drive and get a speed of 1mb / s)
