How to get a job as a junior developer with ~5 years of experience?

I welcome everyone!
All the years I worked on project support (about 5 years), did the same type of tasks or simple development, stupidly sat on the salary and did absolutely nothing for development. Now, all of a sudden, I decided to develop and position myself as a junior, for two reasons: I won’t pull the level of the average and plus I want to have a mentor in the company (I very often read on the toaster and not only that mentoring is very important for novice developer). I agree to a pay cut. I agree that there may be a middle/senior younger than me in the company who will teach me. There are no problems with this.
The problem is this: I talked to one HR, she says that employers will be embarrassed, they will have to explain their goals, explain the situation. I don't want to lie. What do you advise me to do? Do I have any chances to get a job in a firm with a strong team in order to learn and develop?

So after the decision to develop, you began to develop on your own? Of course, it’s not bad to rely on a younger mentor, but it’s better to double-check the mentor’s thoughts .. In general, a mentor will not replace anything, and there is no habit of working on yourself.
There are options either to reach the conditional middle yourself (to write projects outside of work), or to cut off experience in a resume. 5 years is really suspicious, leave 2-3.

Don't bother with positioning. Junior or middle employer will decide for himself. Moreover, this gradation may differ in different companies. Just show what you know / can do and agree on terms that would suit both parties.
If you see that they are confused by the discrepancy between age and experience, explain everything as it is. You don't have to lie.
