McDonald is probably asleep, I will answer for him: "It's cool when rose-colored glasses break, right?"
From myself: starting with zero experience in freelancing is a disastrous business. Maybe in the 2000s it was somehow different, but now each site has already formed its own layer of specialists. Which sometimes even wait until they fulfill orders and be released.
If you are sure that you are able to complete a task for which you can pay, it is better to try out for the office.
Even for free, no one wants to give an order
There is no chance in freelancing until the office has grown at least to the middle.
Even for free, no one wants to give an order
Start with friends and acquaintances, relatives and colleagues in the shop
No matter how trite it is - to make the first project for yourself, in the niche where you want to go.
If there are no ideas, go to any freelance exchange and see what clients want.
Further with this project, you can already offer your services.
If you do not have a project, the chances are an order of magnitude smaller.
— if you take an order, you can’t understand what to do with it, as a result, you will disappear, customers don’t like it, to put it mildly
— if they ask you for proofs, you will have something to show
— make 1-2 projects for yourself, there will already be a little confidence, that you can do something similar for a client.
I wrote a 100% working method, it's up to you to follow it or not.
then work for yourself, create your own startup! and you will be happy
