1.5 volts is the standard voltage for DDR3 memory. 1.35 volts is the DDR3L memory standard.
If you insert a 1.5 volt memory into a laptop with 1.35 volts, it simply won't work, but vice versa it will work. But it is desirable then in the BIOS to reduce the voltage itself to 1.35, or raise the memory frequencies without lowering the voltage, if the BIOS of the motherboard allows this.
