How to extract a note from a Time Machine backup?

There is a time capsule with a laptop backup made before the sale. The laptop had a note in a standard widget on the desktop. How can I pull the contents of a note without deploying the entire system to another device? Of course, there is a password for the account, another computer on OS X too.
