How to enable DCI P3 on LG UltraFine with Thunderbolt?
Hello everyone, I bought LG UltraFine 32UL950-W 31.5" to work with MBP 16.
When connected via the supplied Thunderbolt cable, the laptop is charging and the image is transmitted at 3840x2160 @ 60Hz, but some modes are not available in the monitor settings, which is why the picture is gray
When connected via a USB-C -> HDMI2.0 cable, additional modes are unlocked, the picture becomes juicy (in particular with DCI P3 98%), but the frequency drops to 30Hz
. Macbooks when working with HDMI, and you need to connect via USB-C -> Display port.
But I did not find anywhere how to achieve a normal picture with the supplied Thunderbolt cable.
Monitor firmware version, latest.

Haven't run into your problem, but if you're OK with having another cable (i.e. not annoying), then look into the DP side. I have an adapter for 1300 rubles from ozone that opens up much better on a 4k monitor.
As for USB-c USB-c - call LG and ask them what's up. I'm sure they already have cases about this.
There is software (at least 2 programs with a manual mode selection solution), I don’t remember now, but when I needed to enable HIDPI on the monitor, I used it. (one of them is SwitchResX). When the adapter for DP came, there were no problems.
PS - I wrote the answer, and only now I saw the date of your message. you at least send a solution here.
Found out at last.
It turns out that for some reason these modes are not compatible with HDR mode.
Disabling HDR in macOS settings helps.
