How to download a file from a shared FTP resource on a local network?

Good day to all!
Task:
Write a code that will send a file of a certain repository, renaming it, to an FTP resource of a server located in the local network.
Problem: I can’t figure out how to write a function, I’ve already written everything “attached”, but I’ve been sitting on the function itself for the 2nd week.
If of course it’s possible, tell me how it would be possible to monitor the download progress, the files are very voluminous, and the connection is unstable. Thank you all in advance for your time, waiting for answers)
