Will clients connected to a switch connected to a router see each other by IP?
I want to build a small network at home according to this principle: GPON from MGTS >> router issued by MGTS >> switch >> clients
There was a question. Will a switch work for these tasks, or does it need a router? And will clients connected in this way be able to find each other by IP, and generally receive IP addresses from the router via dhcp? Just as I read, switches work at the second level of the OSI model, and accordingly address packets by MAC addresses, and here I need to distribute IP addresses to clients. Please explain what I don't understand about all this and will such a scheme work?
Thank you!
PS I do not want to connect clients directly to the router from MGTS, because I plan to put something like pfSense between it and this switch (or the router, that's the whole point).
