How to dispose of the SSD on a laptop?

laptop Asus, i3, 8 Gb RAM, HDD 500 Gb
I want to speed it up, because I'm sick of it.
how much SSD to put? put the system on it, and just store files on the old HDD or vice versa? Or even replace the HDD with an SSD?
please advise

system and fast files on ssd, the rest on hdd, the calculation of volumes for individual needs
I now have for example like this: 250ssd + 1000hdd
C - ssd - 120gb - system
D - ssd - 120gb - fast files (projects, some toys, etc.)
E - hdd - 800gb - slow files (media, software, documents, etc.)
F - hdd - 200gb - rubbish (which you still need or are too lazy to rake up)

I join the previous speakers.
System and software - on SSD. Simply Akronis to clone from an existing HDD. Volume - depending on the tasks and budget.
HDD in the adapter and in place of the DVD, under the file washer.

I will not join the previous speakers, since often smaller SSDs are less durable and slower than larger ones. Even if it says in the specifications. You can read review articles. I have a 250GB SSD on my laptop and I have enough space for the OS, office, working software and games (War Thunder, World of Warplanes; Warships; Tanks, Diablo 3, Doom 4). Now free 60GB. But as they say, who cares. I have a Lumia 930 phone on Windows 10, Win10 is on a computer with 5TB of memory and on a second PC and a second laptop. They all hang on the same account and have access to each other's resources (even SMS can be read). As a result, almost all the trash is on the main PC, and I watch / listen to music and movies from it from my phone and other devices via WiFi or mobile Internet (thanks to the beeline for unlimited 4G). Plus, there is a Lenovo A10-70 tablet, which, although on android,
This I mean that if you have a main PC with Win10 and a lot of space on it, then there is no need to store a bunch of junk on the laptop. It's all perfectly combined within one network. As a result, you don't need more than 250GB. And this is told to you by a person who has 5 additional virtual machines spinning on a laptop for work and a personal project (HP ProBook 450 G1 with 8GB DDR4 RAM)
