I really liked the idea of ​​a brick photo gallery (where Georgy Lobushkin wrote it) and decided to implement something similar in my project (I plan to write a service that will also have a user photo gallery on the profile page and the location will be the same as in the attached picture). But after digging around with the layout, the question immediately arose: how to display a similar gallery with a different number of photos? If you resize the displayed photos in such a way that the album area is always filled, then how to select photos by width and height in such a way that when cropping them in automatic mode, only the minimum part of the photo is cropped, and is it necessary to bother? Are there any ready-made means to achieve my goal? masonry вместо обычного обтекания блоков, позиционирует их абсолютно, максимально заполняя рабочую область, да размеры блоков заранее указываются.
Касательно вашего случая, надо просто исходя из общего числа фотографий опряделять какому числу они кратны, и уже в зависимости от этого числа применять шаблон (добавлять классы соответсвующие размерам плиткок).
