How to design a docker container?

Good day!
I have a server with a cloud (owncloud) and several projects, but without virtualization.
I want to do something like this (the question is how to do it):
1. Install a container-only system like CoreOS (which one to choose?)
2. "Wrap" owncloud in a docker container (how to do this, taking into account constantly updated files? Can I hang a symlink in the host system?)
Warning in advance - all my virtualization experience - VirtualBox yes Vagrant
