How to count the collision of two arbitrary vertex meshes?

I want to write a physics engine for my renderer, but I can't find an algorithm that would allow me to calculate collisions between any arbitrary vertex meshes, not just primitives. How to calculate vertex mesh collisions, like mesh collider from unity

The technology is quite old and has been implemented everywhere for a long time.
I am sure that I can find this algorithm in 5-10 minutes, because it is open and is in the public domain.
