Which iMac 27 to buy for 3D modeling and animation?

Hello Dear!
I'm going to buy an iMac 27 for 3D modeling and animation, I've always worked in mac pro 15 in 2D (graphic, web design, illustration), I want to start learning CINEMA4D with Adobe After Effects and I understand that my macbook will no longer pull. What power do you recommend and what power do you use? I would appreciate specific links. Is it worth spending money on the most powerful iMac?
I would also like to know if it is possible to do 100% without the 3D MAX program for 3d modeling, working only in Cinema 4D. I briefly got acquainted with 3d programs and it seems to me that Cinema 4D is the most versatile, which also includes animation. I also noticed that many people combine Adobe After Effects with CINEMA4D and is it important enough to learn more about Adobe After Effects?

Personally, I use iMac 27 "2012 with i7 with 16 Gb of memory + SSD.
And the latest models I recommend this config:
Retina is not necessary, it will only greatly increase the cost. This configuration is also not cheap, 214 thousand
4-core Intel Core i7 processor with a clock 3.5 GHz, Turbo Boost up to 3.9 GHz
16 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1600 MHz (2 x 8 GB)
256 GB flash drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M GPU with 4 GB GDDR5 memory
Apple Magic Mouse
