How to connect an LED strip without a power supply?

Is it possible to connect an LED strip without a power supply? There is a tape, I want to stick on the ledge of the table, a tape 20 cm long to illuminate the keyboard at night, otherwise it is not very convenient to code in the dark, although I remember all the keys by heart, but it happens that you miss the mark, and while you are looking for the right button, a clever thought will fly out from the head.
So is this possible? Because of the 20 cm tape, I don’t want to buy a large power supply, for 500+ rubles.

www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l131... as usual, the Chinese have plenty of them and they are 5 times cheaper.

I can recommend looking here - molotok.ru/listing/user/listing.php?us_id=14496341...
You can search www.ebay.com for the words "strip SMD5730"
in fact, you are best suited for a 12V tape and SMD5730 chips , you can turn it on directly to the computer's power supply to black "-" to yellow "+" The color temperature is optimal 4000-4500K, although this is a matter of taste. You can also put a single-channel controller (IR or RF) to it and adjust the brightness of the glow.
