How to connect a 1C client to a remote server?

There is a Linux cloud server with 1C and PostgreSQL installed and, of course, a client on a Windows machine. There is a task to connect this client to the server named above. I have no idea how to do it. Googling raises more questions than it answers.
I would be extremely grateful for any information.

Install a 1C thin or thick client on a Windows machine. Next, through the Configurator, add an infobase using the name/IP of the remote machine with 1C and the name of the infobase in the 1C server cluster.
The only thing I recommend is to pre-configure the VPN for secure data exchange between the client and the 1C server.
