How to build a career in IT?

I know it's not the best place for such questions, but still.
How to build a career in IT, being an ordinary developer in a small company in the region (need more gold)?

Offhand, what comes to mind:

  • move to the capital, get a higher salary
  • move abroad, get a higher salary
  • kill the boss, take his place
  • somehow prove yourself at work, the authorities will notice and raise
  • ask for a raise
  • start your own company, become your own boss
  • get additional education in the field of management, with him it will be possible to get a job immediately as a boss
  • study specs day and night, study all the development books, be publicly active, become something like Jon Skeet
  • study specifications, solve problems from interviews, get a job as a "leading senior senior" in a company with the highest salaries in the city
  • wait until the company grows and all the old developers will be subordinated to the department

- being an ordinary developer
- a small company
- in the region

change any (or all) of these items.
How to change - here you will essentially not be advised, at least with such an introductory one.
think, look for options. Some of what you wrote is perfectly fine.

If the question is only about salary, then simply increase your professional level . At some stage of development, they will begin to hunt for very good vacancies in the same region. Then they will start hunting from other cities with an offer of relocation at the expense of the employer. Then they will start hunting from behind the hillock, with the same proposal.
If you want to grow into leaders, then develop the appropriate skills and show them in your work.

1 Easy
2 Not difficult either
3 You will stumble on the first payout when you have nothing to pay it with.
4 So why haven't you shown yet?
5 Demand once a month
6 See paragraph 3
7 No, education does not give you the right to immediately get a job as a manager, but natural skills can give you such an opportunity, education, alas, does not.
8 It is doubtful if you ask such questions, well, practice shows that it is impossible to repeat a super successful path, since it depends on a bunch of accidents, and they are different for everyone.
9 What's stopping you from immediately going to get a job in this company now, got a job and are building a career.
10 In small towns, a company cannot grow physically; there are only a few such success stories.

move to the capital, get a higher salary

meaning? possible remotely
move abroad, get a higher salary

meaning? possible remotely
kill the boss, take his place

end of career
somehow prove yourself at work, the authorities will notice and raise

to show means to take responsibility more than others in the company
ask for a raise

money is not taken out of thin air, what exactly have you done for the business to make it earn more and pay you more?
start your own company, become your own boss

he must be able to do something himself in order not to take blockheads
get additional education in the field of management, with him it will be possible to get a job immediately as a boss

education can be obtained online
study specs day and night, study all the development books, be publicly active, become something like Jon Skeet

as an option, but where is the practice?
study specifications, solve problems from interviews, get a job as a "leading senior senior" in a company with the highest salaries in the city

what is a leading senior senior?
wait until the company grows and all the old developers will be subordinated to the department

they will give it to someone who shows himself and takes more responsibility, here the hierarchy does not work
