How relevant is the macbook pro 2012 in the summer of 2014?

I understand that it seems like a rhetorical question, but for me the answer was not obvious enough ... So, we have - a 2012 model 15 "retina, 8 Gb, ssd 512 Gb, 2.6 Hz. The question is whether all this kindness makes sense change to the current model (it doesn't matter 13 or 15.) No specific activity occurs - content consumption, mainly generation - at the level of tables and text files, a little work in ps and other little things. Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice!

No. There is a retina, there is a capacious SSD, what else is needed. You can try to finish the RAM up to 16.

Did they already install Retina at 15" in 2012? If so, it makes no sense to change, in my opinion.
Apple are good marketers. In the new Macbook Air 2014 they installed a 1.4 processor (instead of 1.3 in last year's model), all the changes ended there.
So a month ago I took the PRO 2013 without waiting for the new model
to come out.I think you should not change, since your model is the same in terms of characteristics as the PRO 2013.

@opium

it is logical that it lost its relevance for two years
