How much disk space is there? How much RAM?
Are we talking about a laptop or desktop?
Why reinstall? Windows 7 lives without problems for 2-3 years, if you do not constantly install all sorts of crap from the Internet.
I usually allocate 100G for the C drive (Windows, programs, desktop, swap, space for hibernation) or a separate 120G SSD for the same purposes.
You can do less - then you have to put programs on D, redirect the swap - in general, an additional hassle.

See what version. Under 64-bit, they seem to advise to allocate more. I have a 32-bit one and I allocated 32 gigabytes for it. As long as it's enough. Previously, he allocated 20 each: it was not enough.
