I need to order a website design - this is a catalog of companies in the regional center. In fact, you need 4 templates - the main page, the list of companies, details about the company and internal ones. Naturally, the main differences between the main and all the rest, internal ones are similar. Nothing fancy, fixed width, header, menus, banners, etc.

When I started looking for a freelancer to do this job, I immediately met a price of 40K - and in my opinion it is not true.

I would like to appeal to everyone who can give a real assessment of the project: how much does such a design cost (± 10%)? And how much, approximately, in terms of terms of its execution. Design only, without layout.

If you need an awesome illustration, then you need to draw it with high quality, and illustrators do not work for a trifle as a rule. If you need a site in the style of minimalism - do not flatter yourself, you also need to be able to do minimalism, it's not easy. Online stores are usually expensive because there are many details that require careful attention. And there are many more factors in the formulation of the problem that affect the price.

3. Speculation (it is not uncommon for a customer to find not a contractor, but a person who will outsource to a subcontractor for a significantly lower price. And everything would be fine, but for a significantly lower price you will most likely get lower quality)
4. This solo or is it a team/studio. Studios need to pay taxes, teams need to distribute money among the participants, so by necessity the prices are slightly higher per person.
5. The success of a freelancer. There is a separate conversation here. In fact, every freelancer combines his main activity and manager. Because he is his own manager, he promotes himself, tries to sell at a higher price. If a freelance manager is good, then the freelancer gets more money than his portfolio deserves, simply because he's good at selling or presenting himself. The more successful this manager is in the designer, the more money he wants for working on the design, because a competitive struggle is created between customers who have already bought and want more.
On a living example, mine. Personally, for me, 40k for 4 pages is slightly overpriced. BUT. If in the TOR there is a requirement to develop a unique concept without analogues + you need to make an illustration for each page, then 40k is already underpriced. Because here for a good result you need a team of art director, designer, and illustrator.

If you think the price of 40K is too high, find someone who will do it cheaper. Prices for design vary from 5K to 500K and that's fine. Look at the quality of the work, not the prices.

40k for a good site is a reasonable price. But then again. In Russia, many do what they once learned and do not follow trends. They may charge a lot of money for this, not realizing that their experience is already outdated, but they have been doing this for many years. And they believe that this price is worthy of their work, and maybe more. But this is not so. Their work is devalued.
For example, the design of this website is Flat. Now he is in trend. And that is already becoming obsolete, because Google came up with Material Design. It's almost the same as this one, just added shadows under the buttons to make it look like you can press it.
Before ordering a design, you need to dig a little and study it yourself in order to be able to evaluate what these designers can offer you in the end. They may well not be worth the money that they offer for work.
Website redesign usually costs less. Since, everything remains in its place, only in a different form.

Everyone always wants everything now. In design, this is not good, as the result can be a complete unsatisfactory job. Since the profession is creative, sometimes there are such blunts that you sit in front of the monitor for two hours and cannot figure out how to insert it here.
