How is it fashionable to format a hard drive now?

There was a need to format the hard drive, I haven’t done this for a hundred years, I used to use DOS fdisk and format before. Now it’s worth bothering with DOS or it’s better to boot from a flash drive with software like gparted / paragon, or advise what you yourself use.

Any OS has tools for formatting the same. The same Windows: right-click on the disk and "Format" there.

I use either the old "partition magic" or "acronis disk director"
The latter is much more convenient and the functionality of the program is quite large.
