Perhaps you know a video or article that describes the whole thing?
Maybe someone knows a course where this is taught?
Is there any list of required software for creating such graphics? Is a game engine used in this process?

You can also read the vacancies at blizzard - there is a list of technologies in the requirements. Apparently, that's what they use.
