How does the "Remove Unneeded On-Axis Points" option of the MirrorMe plugin work?

Option: -Remove Unneeded On-Axis Points
Tooltip in it: - When mirroring a selection or removing layer axes, removes the points created at the axes intersections when they do not change the path shape selecting or deleting the axes of the layer, deletes the points created created at the intersection of the axes when they do not change the shape of the path)
Despite all my attempts to understand the principle of its work, I failed to do this.

When reflecting the selection or deleting the axes of the layer, the points created at the intersection of the axes are removed if they (points) do not change the shape of the curve.
In my opinion, everything is simple here - when you mirror something, duplicate points that are in the same coordinates are removed at the junction of the mirrored halves. If the shape does not change, they can be removed, the vector will become cleaner.
