How do you use Evernote?
How do you use Evernote? What are you storing for?
Notes about Evernote are constantly slipping, I installed it several times both as extensions to the browser and as an application to the phone (no difference) I went to understand what and how, but did not find an adequate application for this service.

Write down something that comes to mind along the way (on the phone) - process it at home from a more suitable device and do something with it. And vice versa. Writing down everything that is needed for a while, I terribly dislike various notepads and Google docs for such purposes. Storage of various notes that at one time or another need to be touched, regardless of which device I am at hand.
Recently, I generally write there in the appropriate sections a bunch of information found suitable for myself in text form, then I form large cheet sheets or instructions. Nothing is lost, it is quickly found in case of emergency, and again, it doesn’t matter on which device you add / change / delete.
I use like this:
1) ReadLater service. I throw off everything I want to read in Evernote with a clipper, and everything that I read and was interested in.
Functionality that attracts:
- offline and online access to the database of saved pages;
- access from a mobile phone;
- the ability to select only the necessary part of the page and at the same time preserve the formatting.
- the ability to edit notes;
- the ability to quickly go to the original page (to the source)
- the mobile version of evernote'a "gives in" to readability-browser extensions.
2) Necessary notes from the "remember for the future" series.
Functionality:
- first of all, high-quality search, including screenshots.
- the ability to split into notebooks, combine notebooks into sets by topic; setting tags for notes.
3) Planning (quick notes "what to do").
4) As in the previous answers, "momentary notes", "remember quickly and briefly."
To summarize, it’s convenient to throw off everything that interests you, you want to read later, you want to remember, etc. in Evernote. It attracts with a good search, the possibility of mobile and offline access, the ability to quickly create a note from part of the web page (clipper) and from part of the screen (screenshot).
I throw off pieces of code, linux commands, notes from books, interesting statements, documents. I don't use it on my phone/tablet.
Instead, I use catch.com/
There is a plug-in for browsers, a client for Android. I throw there all the information that can be useful at any time - addresses, payment information, names of teachers and numbers of their classrooms :)
In addition to the above, I take screenshots. You press win+PrintScreen, select a screen area with ctrl pressed, then ctrl+v in Skype chat, and it is already sent to the addressee in jpg form. True, there are no traces left on my computer, so we must remember what I sent to whom.
I only use it on PC. I store all useful information. List of movies to watch and music to listen to, pieces of code, information about the car, lists of things for vacation, prescriptions from doctors, quotes, TODO lists, and all that. The same dropbox, only for text.
He used to use Springpad, but lately he has been thinking about a bunch of notes for a very long time, he had to switch to Evernote.
I use (usually my own notebook for each purpose): -storage of program keys (Windows, Office, etc.)
-as a backup for phone numbers very afraid of losing important numbers) -
to memorize momentary information, like “download distribution *link*”, “search for books *names*”
- tried to adapt SpringPad under GTD at one time - each notebook - for its own purpose, like Today, Tomorrow, On a week, but it turns out rather clumsily, although you can use it for some time if you wish -
Well, just some logins / passwords and links to some resources
Used for some time to store interesting articles and notes, but then gave up. Now I prefer simple text files (with synchronization via Dropbox).
Instead, I use springpad , a very lightweight and user-friendly interface (android, chrome extension, web). Before him, I also thought why these services might be needed at all, but after trying it, I came to the conclusion that it is really convenient, which cannot be said about Evernote.
Once the customer forced me to lead a project in it.
In fact, it turned out to be a very useless undertaking.
For some time I used a client for android on my phone, but then I stopped, I just don’t see the need.
“Notes about Evernote are constantly slipping” - drawing attention to the service. For online documents, I prefer GDocs.
I use an analogue - catch.com - and only on the phone. For quick recording of emerging ideas and photographs of anything interesting on the streets (so as not to look later in the photo gallery).
I tried to save the necessary pages in it, but it didn’t work. The plugin for FF locks the browser window when saving.
I tried to conduct projects in it - it turned out to be inconvenient (perhaps, but inconvenient). But at important meetings, where someone from the management casually throws a thought that six months later will grow into an accusation “well, I told you then that this needs to be done!”, audio notes are made with transcription and control (through flags) potentially dangerous questions.
Perfect for a diary, a work journal, a collection of quotes from FB Reader. With a premium account, I slowly collect quotes in one place and drag book files to them - in pdf, fb2, and so on.
Sorting materials according to the courses I read at universities - from web clipping of an interesting thought thrown by someone on LinkedIn to storing a multi-volume material on the Nuremberg trials, with marks and notepads.
Sorting of materials on litigation with customs with excellent filtering of material (except for ugly glitches with encoding when copy-pasting from GARANT to Evernote).
Collection, sorting, storage and development of "interesting-places-where-I-would-like-to-go."
Screenshots, yes.
The sketch never came in handy, I used Evernote Hello once - I won’t turn it into an everyday tool, but as a saving fallback option on a tablet, it will come in handy.
EverNote is an ideal repository of loosely structured information
- we discussed the business model, we need to collect information - it is most convenient to make a couple of shared notebooks in EverNote
- we need to constantly keep notes on some topic (project diary) - you create a note in EverNote or even a notebook, very convenient
- in general, any work with information after brainstorming but BEFORE the appearance of a clearly structured document. For example, outlines of an article, outlines of instructions for employees.
- I also keep notes in EverNote
And it's stupid to compare with G Docs - they complement each other - first you make sketches in EverNote, collect information - then prepare the final document Documents.
