How do you study difficult topics?

Good day. When studying complex topics or solving complex problems, what method do you use or what algorithm do you use?

I study different sources. Mostly in English. For example, I am currently studying linear algebra from scratch. I tried to watch Russian-language lectures on YouTube. Brain freezes at 5 minutes. But on the other hand, there is such an English-language resource Khan Academy. Everything is well done there. It chews up perfectly. Motivation system. Well, in general, very cool. Well, or Udacity, Сoursera - this is another level.
Another very good idea is to draw a mind map as you study. I use instead of taking notes. Google it if you don't know.

A large and complex task is usually a set of many small (topics). But what is a difficult task? For some, an easy task may be difficult for me, for example. Why? - because I just don't know and don't understand it. It is the same with complex ones:
- Understand all topics that are unknown to you in parts.
- Understand the entire problem.
- Try practically.
