How do you like redmine?

Hello everyone, we decided to streamline the time and increase the speed of work, etc. We chose Redmine as a functional and free tool, we are a development team. We made a good choice or there are better analogues (preferably free) and the experience of those who used redmine would be desirable. And also what to read about setting up Redmine and proper management? I want to set it up once, write the rules of the instruction and follow them and not waste time on this

You need to finish it for yourself.
But overall a good thing.

The product is not developed, there are better free analogues.

It is not clear what you need and what requirements you place on such tools. For example, in our team we use trello + slack. Very satisfied.

Redmine is a good shareware project management system with some drawbacks. We actively used it at the first stage, before the release of our application in live. Redmine has a strong base, but as kn0ckn0ck rightly said, it has, unfortunately, not been developed for a long time. Many features have to be finished to suit the company, to buy paid plugins. Although for standard cases, with a small number of employees, it will do.
There are many analogues for development, moreover, at a reasonable price. Considering that the server and its maintenance also cost money, you can also look towards paid solutions.

Redmine is a great system, if you are not ready to spend money, then you are unlikely to find something better. It is flexible, easily extensible with plugins and constantly updated. While it all comes down to your needs in the end, Trello, for example, requires little to no setup compared to redmine.
